This map shows the more detailed area of conflict around Kohima and Imphal. The British war records are not detailed enough to show where the Essex Regiment went but from what I've read it looks like they would have operated in the shaded area around Kohima and Imphal. This area was in both India - Nagaland, and in Burma. You can see the border between the two countries passing through the middle of the conflict area. The Essex Regiment walked in from approximately Rangazumi, east into Nagaland.
